Whiplash

Whiplash is the most common injury related with Road Traffic Accidents but can also be caused by other accidents where the neck is jolted sharply. In the UK, half a million people made a claim for whiplash in 2007, three-quarters of the UK’s compensation claims.

Symptoms include discomfort in the back, neck and shoulders, headaches and tingling sensations. Symptoms can appear immediately after the accident or develop over a period of hours and days.

If you think you have suffered whiplash you should seek medical advice as soon as possible after an injury occurs. Usually whiplash is initially treated with painkillers, followed by physiotherapy if symptoms persist.
